Title: Rear Fender Clearance
Post by Driller on 04/04/11 at 17:29:34

Anyone know the travel on the stock shocks to full compression: i.e. "bottoming out" ?
I'm doing a mild "Bob"  and am trying to gauge the minimum safe space needed between the  tire and the new fender. The distance between the stock fender and tire at rest measures about 3in. Can that be fudged  to tuck the new fender a bit closer w/o risking contact?
Guess I might experiment with the spacers and bounce around on it while someone checks the clearance.

Somewhere between 1.5" and 1.75"
But, shock stroke don't equal wheel stroke.
You're just going to have to sit on it   ;D

And then there's the matter of clearance at the front of the swingarm.

measure the gaps between the spring coils and add them together. that will give you max travel
