Title: Harley Davidson
Post by Starlifter on 04/02/11 at 12:30:19

...been looking at their 2011 lineup & prices.

Don't it beat all hell, how people will spend money they ain't got to buy stuff they don't need, to show off to people they don't like ??

Everytime gas has gone up the last few years I have IDIOTS come up, ask about my bikes' gas mileage, & tell me they're going to get a bike to save on gas.
When I ask if they've ridden before & what they're getting, the reply is almost always NO, but I've been approved to get a new H-D. I ask if they've checked on insurance, NO. m/c license, NO. I'll just ride without 'til I can get it. Explain, NO license= NO insurance, NO financed bike.
Then I tell them they need a M/C Safety Course to get a license. :-/

Owning a Harley won't make you a biker, but riding any m/c as a daily part of your life will, in my book. ;D

I tell them to buy a used bike to start with but I can see they just don't get it!!!!!!

I going to stop wasting my time, they just don't want to hear it.......... 8-)

I'm told that you can no longer get a MC endorsement in Florida without the MSF basic course (?)

Couple years ago, in line at the grocery store.
Had helmet with me, guy in front of me had
mc gear and helmet.
Male casheir says I am thinking of getting a bike
to save money..
Man in front of me, looked at me, we both said
it at the same time.
Don't get a bike thinking your going to save money...
Cashier looked at us kinda strange.
I figured he could find out for himself...:) kim

"Saving money" is the justification you give the spouse.

I wish I could find the YouTube video of some bozo taking delivery of his brand new HD bagger, with all the extra chrome bits of course, and promptly slamming it into the side of a truck before he can get out of the parking lot.

He could've bought a good used Savage for under $2000 and used the rest to buy some new clothes 8-)

New Flash: Bruce Rosemyer, the largest Harley dealer in the US will no longer sell motorcycles at his orignial location on Beach Street in Daytona. instead the store will sell Harley Davidson clothing and will have a small motorcycle museum on site. Just read it in the local news paper. They sell the life style as well as the bikes. ::)

I have had a lot of different bikes, of a lot of different brands, and I have dropped all of them, including the Savage.  Trust me, it is the rider, not the bike.

Did you guys know Bruce was killed a couple of years ago? Some businesses don't last long after the initial genius with a dream is gone. Or is this another guy?

I think I may have told everyone this story a few years ago, so if your heard it before, sorry
Dec of 2008 I was bike shopping, wasn't sure what i wanted but was looking for something a little bigger the the 650, while in the local HD dealer the salesman pointed me in the direction of a very pretty 883, as I sat on it a customer very politely ask me not to sit on it because he had just bought it for his girlfriend. We got talking and I could just see the words "I'm stupid" across his forehead getting bigger and bigger. He was buying the 883 for his girlfriend who has never ridden in her life, she didn't need the MSF course because he was going to teach her how to ride. I suggested that he go across the street to the Honda dealer buy her a Rebel and spend the rest of the money on health and life insurance for her :o

I must have ridden just about every bike made in England, but I have never ridden a Harley, much fun was made of them in England, but now I understand they are popular over ther now,who would have ever guessed ?  Anyway I still don't like them,I was all about speed, and their are many 500 cc bikes that beat Harley's ,so who needs the 1000 cc  ?

Title: Re: Harley Davidson

Come on Mick the whole idea of owning a harley is too see how much chrome you can bolt onto it. Sort of like the British Mods made famous in Quadrophinia with all the mirrors bolted to the scooters. I've seen harley's that have more money tied up in chrome than I have in my entire Savage. If you stop to think of it that's pretty easy to do ;D.

Author of "When will Jesus bring the pork chops"

When it comes to believing in God,I really really tried . . . but. . . the more you look around, the more you realize . . . something is wrong here.War,desease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, the ice capades.... This is not good work.If this is the best that god can do,I am not impressed,Results like these do not belong on the resume of a Supreme being.

My daughter just took the MSF course this March. Her first bike is the 2000 Savage we just picked up. FTR, she's 23, 5' 7" and about 150 lbs. Seemed like the Rebel would be a bit small for her, and given that the Savage is such a lightweight bike for it's displacement it seemed like a nice fit.

During the class. the instructor had gone around the room asking who had ridden before, and then who had currently bought a bike. One guy had never ridden before, however, his "starter bike" was a Road King. As soon as the instructor heard that, he made an example of the guy for the rest of the class for what NOT to buy as a starter bike, and stood before the guy and made the sign of the cross...
