Title: The Family Grows (sorda)
Post by Stimpy - FSO on 03/30/11 at 19:44:18

No, I still sadly don't have any kids yet (big big decision for me)
but on the bright side I got a 2nd bike this week.

The wifey had a little "fender-bender" this month and
the cage is unoperational right now (busted radiator, lights
and hood) and MUST be rebuilt before first snowfall this year, lol.

She's fine but to "punish" her I bought her a used scooter
so she can get to work (about 3 miles each way).

...does that make any sense?   :-?

I actually was slowly saving up for a new-used savage but between
the new bike and the new parts for the car it's back to square 1, crap.

The damage is not that bad and looks worse than it is,
also she thinks all this is just freaking hilarious and is not a bit
sorry about it (and is actually laughing in this very picture), jeez.

Well, here it is:  (Ta da!)
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7258/apriliarally50ac.jpg

It's an Italian 2-stroke Aprilia "Rally" with a 49cc/4.3HP Minarelli motor in it.

It's a 2006 with a measly 2,500miles on it and goes about
35-40mph, and, get this, does not use motor oil, hahaha.

It has 2 tanks under the seat, one for 2 stroke oil and one for gas,
that's it, other than that it only takes DOT brake fluid and a splash
80W gear oil in the rear axle.

I've never owned a scooter before so ANY tips, tricks experiences
and warnings would be HIGHLY appreciated from any of you guys and gals.

My other bike, as some of you may remember, is a 97 SR125.
This one goes 70mph, handles very well and is total workhorse,
still quite happy with it, specially nowadays with $8dlls/gallon gas,
yup, that's what I'm paying for regular over here, sux.  :o

Anyway, I'll post here again soon after I wash and de-badge the
new scooter it and install the new "rain tires" I got for it.
Rain tires?  yes, rain tires, look:

* From the manufacturers page:

Wintec is the new Metzeler technology applied to tread pattern,
compound and structure specifically optimized for wet and cold
conditions allowing the characteristics to remain unchanged even
in variable conditions.  Due to the development of and use of
this special product, the Metzeler Feelfree Wintec can even
modify the riding habits and typical seasonality of the urban
vehicle.  (whatever that means)

...see you soon and please pray for japan

Oh sure now you've done it, she wreck's the family car and you give her a scooter.  Right now she's thinking... 'wow, what if I totaled it'   [smiley=evil.gif]

So her plan worked..She had it all planned.
Wreck car, you buy her the scooter she had
been looking at, as well as drooling over.
Yep plan worked.. ;D ;D ;D

My scooter I started out with was similar.
Just remember it is only going to go so
fast. It is great for lil trips and make sure,
the oil is checked each time you add gas.
That was the habit I got into doing
with mine.
You know now you have created a monster
don't ya? That new savage you were hoping
to buy for yourself, forget it. You will buy it
yet for her.. ;)  The scooter is just a stepping
stone. Best of luck.. :) kim

Then Stimpy'd have to buy her some new shoes so she could walk to work.   Women love shoes.  ;)

Congratulations on the scooter!
