Title: New guy wanting to bob!
Post by creekhound on 03/27/11 at 13:45:25

From what i have read i am nothing new from alot of others on here.Just picked up a 05 suzuki s40 with 1500 miles on it.It is stock all but some stickers put on by last owner(FLAMES).I hear they add 10%more power!Anyway they will be coming of even if i will have to loose power LOL.My goal is a stripped down bobber for riding not looking at this bike will see miles!Keeping it softtail but going to a bobed fender, remove front fender, remove belt gaurd, rear pegs, want to do hidden battery, maybe air box but what i have read on here doesnt make me want to do it,solo seat, new muffler, new turn signals and brake light with side mounted plate.

Now a couple of ?s How do i get ahold of lancer?  seems everyone is going to him for carb jetting. What do you think about BCB drag pipe? Not a fan of chrome and those harley slip ons are coverd in it!Does the BCB pipe have enough back pressure? Not looking to make power with these mods just need more sound out of this bike. Also is removing the airbox and going to a cone filter really hit or mpg that bad?I love h s40 that have airbox and battery box removed!Last ? for todayCan i get mini apes on this bike without doing all new cables?

You got buckhorns or drag bar?
buckhorn cables are a little longer.

But if you search, you'll find that 8" or 10" will fit.
I'm sure 8" will fit, think you got to reroute the cables a bit for 10"

hound, you said "looking on here makes you not want to do it". This is a VERY good site for the Savage, but many here do the undoable and brag about it to us, complete with pics.  :) I think Boultard is running his bike on a hearing aid battery, Yonuh is thinking about turbos, and Serowbot has a chrome tank that is beautiful. Looking at the pictures he comes up with in the Cafe makes you think his advice may be similar to Dr Frankenstein, but he's cool. And somebody is using dryer sheets for his air cleaner. It must be nice riding behind him. Welcome. Boofer

Sorry to hear about lancer i wish him the best!!

verslagen1= It has the stock drag bars so will the 10 inch apes work also what size risers should i use?

Boofer=What i meant was after reading how bad the mpg took a hit doing cone airfilter it wouldnt be worth the look!

short ones, you should be able to take the extensions off of the handlebar clamps, then mount them to the damper assy's with shorter bolts.  And the drag bars usually have shorter cables so you might be stuck with 8"

I've been toying with the idea of mini-apes of different varieties on my 05 as well and came across these:

8"

$40 bucks including shipping, I put these on my 04 savage, had to reroute clutch cable to make work but very happy with the end result.

Did you have drag bars or buckhorns to start with? also do you have a pic? What risers did you use?
