Title: backrest question Post by mau2wu on 03/26/11 at 08:41:24 Is it possible to put a backrest from the older model ls650 (savage) onto the newer s40's? I have a 2006. I see lots of used backrests on ebay for the older models but not the s40s. I need a backrest because I am now taking my daughter to school and it seems a lot safer with a backrest. Thanks...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BACKREST-PAD-MOUNTS-1996-04-SUZUKI-SAVAGE-LS650-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c58e88b11QQitemZ190470195985QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |

Title: Re: backrest question Post by Boofer on 03/26/11 at 11:47:34 Be careful. I ordered some mounting holes but lost them when I opened the package. Must have rolled under the work bench. :D |

Title: Re: backrest question Post by mau2wu on 04/03/11 at 04:15:30 Thanks for the encouragement. I finally got a 2001 savage backrest on my 2006 s40. It fits great, bolts right on with the mounting hardware. http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2011%5C04%5C03%5Cbikepics-2180626-800.jpg http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2011%5C04%5C03%5Cbikepics-2180652-800.jpg |

Hey, you need a back time more than a backrest! |
Title: Re: backrest question Post by mscepu101 on 04/05/11 at 15:40:50 I am thinking about wrapping my pipes. Did you do it yourself and was it difficult? Do you have an additional picture? |
Title: Re: backrest question Post by mau2wu on 04/08/11 at 05:50:35 Here are a couple photos of the header wrap. I got 25' which was enough to wrap the pipe up until it meets the muffler. The wrap came with steel zip ties. I have it mainly for safety so I don't burn myself or my kids. I think it would look neat to have a straight pipe out the back with the whole thing wrapped. http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2011%5C04%5C08%5Cbikepics-2184064-800.jpg http://p1.bikepics.com/pics/2011%5C04%5C08%5Cbikepics-2184066-800.jpg |
Title: Re: backrest question Post by mscepu101 on 04/08/11 at 18:02:45 Nice Job! I have the same concern about the kids! I would like to do the same but I do not want to remove the pipe to apply the tape and if it does not meet my satisfaction I want to be able to remove it without damage to the pipes. |
