Title: AHHH! Riding Weather
Post by Southpaw on 03/21/11 at 19:01:38

Great riding weather today. Got to put a few miles on breaking in my new Metzler rear tire. I got the paint for the tins today, I figure on riding the rest of this week and then pulling down for the paint job. Dare I say it without jinxing us...Spring has sprung!

Yep, put the 880 Marathon on and trying to get riding time between  the raindrops. I'm painting it a 2011 GM color "Greystone Metalic"  using Nason single stage paint. I've got a layout for a P-40 Warhawk "sharkteeth" decal for the tank, but I'm not sure about the look on a bagger style bike. If it comes down to lose the windshield or lose the decal, the decal loses! (I'm getting soft in my old age ;)  )

I'm envious. We have at least 3 more weeks before we can ride up here. It's still snowing.  >:(

Yesterday we had the highest temps in 5 Months....
Around 58 degrees, Bright sun.
We left here at 12:15 pm and took the Ferry
across to Whidbey Island.Trip to ferry took
about hr and 1/2. Wait for Ferry 1 hr, crossing
took 32 mins.. Enjoyed the nice warm sun while
waiting.
Bikes get to load and unload first on the Ferrys, so
that is a nice perk.
We brought the last ferry back at 9:15 p.m. and got
home at 11:15. Hit a few drops of rain about the last
25 miles. I kept asking to let us get home, then it
could pour.. We made it again with just a few drops
on the shields.. :)
Now today is cloudy, had some rain and more expected
later.   :(  All in all though had a beautiful ride and enjoyed
the hell out of the sun   8-) Also put 200 miles on Genie and
she is now officially over
4,000 miles on the odometer.  :)
Hubby almost had a HUGE deer as it came out and
so close in front of him, it made me almost do a nasty
thing in my pants. I will admit to saying a few nasty words.
But will be a lady and not say them here.. :-X
It was a very close call. Other than that happy to report
no mishaps.. :) kim

That's Ok Wolfman, you can pin it on me, I got wide shoulders, but there sure were a lot of other bikes out there with me!  Did I mention I took my son fishing the other day also... oops, there I go again. ;) As for the ban, I'm leaving for Kansas tomorrow to see my inlaws for a few days. Last year, I spent a month there one week, does that count?  :o

Kim I'm glad you got out and stayed dry. Your ethusiasm is fun to read and contagious! I'm also glad your hubby stayed safe! Gotta watch those deer, they've claimed two of my rider friends over the years

As for me, I'm riding every chance I get right now regardless of temps. I know I'll be down a little while for the paint job and since it's a side job for my painter, I'm sure it will take longer than I want to get it back. I'll be the one going through withdrawal when you all are back riding the next couple of weeks!  :P

Hey Southpaw, I grant you permission to
come out of the corner. You can ride along
with me. Today I rode 60 miles roundtrip.
I had to take care of some business. Roads
were a little wet on the way to where I went.
Started the trip back about 3 hrs later, roads
were mostly dry.. 57 degrees today. Not as
much or as bright sun, yet nice temps for
riding..
I will ride every chance I get now that the
temps are starting to warm up..
Spring is definetly here along with the pollen..AAHHHChooooo :) kim

Yeah i heard all the bikes out. Must of been a 100 a day down the highway.
Me? I was rebuilding the fricking fence so i can turn the horses onto new pasture. 3 beautiful days to ride and i got one short ride to town in to get fence staples. Then it actualy SPIT rain on me on the way home.
Got time to ride now and its going back into the freezer with rain/snow forecast. Been a Long COLD winter, even for MO.
