Title: Super Moon
Post by kimchris1 on 03/18/11 at 07:00:10

No I am not talking of a human beings ex. lg butt.
This will be an actual larger then normal full moon.
This will appear tomorrow evening. I am hoping for
clear skies so we can view it here.
If I remember it correctly, it should be 14 to 18% larger..
Hoping to capture a picture of it. :) kim

Kimmy, I was just reading about that!

We are having a bonfire, so it should be perfect! Full moons do something strange to me though....   ;)

I know for sure they have to lock Justin up on every full moon night,he starts to grow hair on his hands and face, his fangs start growing,so the nice folk down in Texas just lock hip up to be safe.
Aint dat right JOG ?

We had fast moving variable clouds. I didn't see a size difference but boy was it bright!!

Mrs. Doc commented n the moon while we were walking the dogs.  Now I have to tell her what a great astronomer she is!

Hey guys, don't worry if you missed it last night..
IT is tonight this event will take place.
So if you thought it was bright lastnight,
just wait till tonight..
This happens every 18 years. Next one will
be in the year 2029. It may very well effect
the tides as well.
Hugs and again will try to get a pic..:) hugs.. kim

I'll have to try and remember to poke my head out the shop door at work tonight during my lunch break (midnight).

Beautiful night, jut cool enough to keep the skeeters down, so bright we could walk the trail around the property w/o a flashlight.

For those that missed this, WOW it truely was beautiful.
At first it was behind the clouds some and, then it came
out from behind the clouds. It was beautiful and yes so
bright, one could be outside without a porch or flashlight.
I took several pictures and yet all it looks like is a white dot
on a black piece of paper. My camera did not do it justice.
What a way to end Winter and begin Spring...:) kim

I saw it at 5:30 this morning in the sw sky and it did look different than normal. it was raining here last night, but clear this morning so I got a chance to see it.

I agree it didn't seem that much bigger, but it was much brighter, for sure!  And the amount of detail we could see was amazing!

My pics don't do justice either, but here are a few I took.

First, our bonfire...  just a little one...

Shined an LED Maglite on the trees to get something else to focus on.

And see.... it was only this big

piglet, I like your "lil" bonfire..lol.
Nice you were able to enjoy
the fire and, watch the beautiful
moon.
I was expecting a much larger moon
yet, it was the brightness that
actually captured my attention. :) kim
