Title: Handgrips and Pegs
Post by Silly Ogre on 03/16/11 at 15:45:19

Anyone have any recommendations for handgrips? I lost the chrome end cap off of one of my grips. I am in limbo about whether to take this opportunity to upgrade or just replace the end cap. If I replace the grips I have to replace the pegs. I know the rear pegs are gonna be swingpegs.

I lost an endcap once also. Someone put up a link where you could get a new set of just endcaps without replacing the grips. Ron Ayers, Maybe? Or try Bike Bandit.
Why would you need to replace the pegs, if you just need or want new grips?

I don't have too...Just trying to justify to myself that they need to match...I really would like to find the end caps... I am kinda partial to the OEM grips...

iso grips are said to be good, hard to install though.

Ver...I have never installed hand grips before... I know this is a stupid question... How do you install regular hand grips and what makes ISO harder?

I haven't done these, but from what was said the throttle side is very tight.  I think the last to install removed some material to make it easier.  now i remember, the savage throttle tube has some ribs in it.  Take those off or get another smooth tube and the iso grip will slide right on.  You can get a new tube from 5 to 10 bucks.

to loosen up the glue holding the current grips on, a blast of air or water to peel it away.  isopropyl alcohol or hairspray between the grip and bar will make the glue slippery and ready to take the new grip.
