Can't get the muffler of the header. I have been using wd40 soaking it every time I can for the past day with no results.

I was thinking of banging it against the wall!!! I just don't want to damage the header.

... really,... not a bad idea... just some easy taps spaced all around the circumference ... You only need to break the bond and it'll practically fall off...
;)...

Make a cradle for the header to sit in
you want to apply pressure at the muffler header joint til it pops
then rotate 90° and repeat till you can get it off.

Try using PB Blaster instead of WD40, or torch it. Put a towel over the header and put a flathead up against the muffler and start tapping it with a hammer. I dunno! Bring it here man we'll figure it out! :D

Tech support guys start by asking, "Is the computer on?" So in that spirit I have to ask, did you loosen the clamp?

Fortunately, I never had this problem because my bike came with a "custom" exhaust that was held on with a drywall screw stuck in a hole. Not screwed in, just stuck in there.

Somebody else had one with a drywall screw in it too. Oh heck, that might have been my son's bike when we got it! So 2 people in this world thought that was a good idea! lol

Is it just rusted together? I'm trying to think of that rust-disolver stuff, but can't put my finger on what its called.

Everything was off. Only took like 20 hard hits with the hammer to get it off.

Actually the bolt holding the clamps Together broke right in half when I was trying to unscrew them so they were loose in the above picture that looks like it has them still holding the muffler.

WD isnt the best penetrant, Kroil is good, wintergreen oil s good. Get some real serious penetrating oil in it, let it sit a day. Lay it on whatever y need to to get it supported & fat, with a board under the connection. Gently, lightly, not to bend anything, tap, tap tap,, just enough to shake stuff up in there. Now, ya need someone to help out, someone hold it vertical & someone take a board & hammer & work around ti, tapping down. No go? Add penetrating oil & wait a while. It didnt get stuck in a minute, it mite not get UN stuck in a minute. Thats how Id try it, someone may have a real quick easy idea,,

PB Blaster is the most effective for the money. 8-)

The master mechanic I learned from back in the sixties mixed 50-50 acetone & atf & put it in pump oil cans to use. Worked pretty good & was cheap. ;D

WD40 is best for drying damp plug wires. Not good for much else to me. :-?

And tapping in the area where the clamp was will usually loosen things up without resorting to the BFH. :o
