Title: aftermarket taillight options Post by chickenwingsmmm on 03/03/11 at 17:54:07 Hey all, I've had my new S40 for about 3 weeks now, and that stock taillamp is killing me. Does anyone else feel it is overpowering the rear fender area? Just wondering if anyone has had any experiances with an aftermarket unit and what it looks like. thanks, tanner |

Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by ALfromN.H. on 03/03/11 at 19:37:18 I got them a couple years ago and they are holding up pretty well. The lights on them weren't really visible in the daylight so I added some other turn signals to mine. I have the white "LN" model. Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by stinger on 03/03/11 at 23:22:33 Demin, what brand tail lights is that on the back of the black savage? I agree the big red lunch box sitting on top of the fender makes it look heavy. |
Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by babyhog on 03/04/11 at 06:15:41 I want the triple light on the purple one. Where'd you get that? |

You can probably find one like it on eBay by searching for "cat eye taillight." |
Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by babyhog on 03/04/11 at 09:19:58 Been thinking about updating mine too. What do you need to watch for, like electrical-wise? Draw amount... wiring.... compatibility... Anything special to avoid? |

Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by babyhog on 03/04/11 at 10:41:49 Looks good Arnold. Saw one of those on ebay with the word STOP framed in the chrome on the top half. Anybody got a "sparto" style? Can't find any dimensions. Wonder if this is big enough and would work? http://i.ebayimg.com/06/!C!jp8V!CGk~$(KGrHqN,!ikE0HK+P)u,BNDhUfCu4!~~0_12.JPG http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLACK-SPARTO-BOBBER-STYLE-CUSTOM-TAIL-LIGHT-HARLEY-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4cf3ef70bdQQitemZ330510069949QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |
Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by Arnold on 03/04/11 at 10:50:16 Yea, they sell a lot of replicas for the model A, make sure to get the one made of real glass and not plastic though. So Sparto Tail light is the correct name, I only knew the other one :) |

This is what I run with a side mount license plate bracket made for the model A tailight. Love it Got the bracket for $27 bucks from Road 6 Customs, that includes the powdercoating. |

Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by Arnold on 03/04/11 at 11:47:52 That's exactly where I bought mine too, best price and good quick service. 2 bulbs and 1 filament is what we need. |
Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by chickenwingsmmm on 03/04/11 at 13:06:11 Geat responses guys. I havn't had my taillight off yet, but I'm wondering what kind of mounting holes I'll have to cover up/use. |

I like this. Think I would buy a matching one for the other side, ditch the turn signals, & use a trailer light converter to make them both run, brake, & turn signal. Haven't seen that before? :-/ YEEAAHH, that's the way my mind works, can't LEAVE anything alone!! 8-) |
Title: Re: aftermarket taillight options Post by Arnold on 03/04/11 at 14:10:55 It'd be almost like riding a whole Model A bumper. Hey, it can be done, probably easily with a bit of wiring skills. |

The diamond LED is from V-TWIN.The cat eye is pretty generic. All the companies have it.It's also called a snake eye. And it will cover the exsisting holes in the fender. |

That is a Sparto with custom turn signals mounted to it.The turn signals are dual filament bulbs so they double as brake lights also. |
