Title: Help with buying a used savage Post by kabuki85 on 02/24/11 at 00:38:18 I am currently looking for my first road bike, and I really am leaning towards the savage. Here is a CL listing I have been looking at. Does anyone have any feedback on this bike. Anything specific I should be paying attention to? Thanks! http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/mcy/2219966177.html |

Title: Re: Help with buying a used savage Post by JohnBoy on 02/24/11 at 04:09:08 I bought a 2004 with 4000 miles for 1,900.00 in the phoenix market. My bike was in very good condition. I would be looking at a kelly blue book price for your market. This looks a little high IMHO. JB |
Title: Re: Help with buying a used savage Post by IN-S40 on 02/24/11 at 07:50:24 Seems a bit steep to me too. I bought a 2005 with 4300 on it for $1,900. Like the other guys say it will need a cam chain around 15-20K miles... Darren IN-S40 |
Title: Re: Help with buying a used savage Post by Fuzzy5150 on 02/24/11 at 08:01:24 I think it is too much for the bike. I just bought a 2007 with 2,400 miles on it for $2,200 in Omaha, NE |
Title: Re: Help with buying a used savage Post by verslagen1 on 02/24/11 at 09:02:21 Are '01's silver? I got an '02 and it's black. $700 could be the cam chain work, it would be good to look over what was done. seat cover will set you back $100 ;) otherwise $1800 is a bit high especial knee high in snow. |

Title: Re: Help with buying a used savage Post by verslagen1 on 02/24/11 at 18:33:54 Kabuki, what's the number on the engine block? Looks like they replaced the engine or blew up the head. Not that it couldn't be repaired. I just would prefer to know. |
