Title: Weights...
Post by Serowbot on 02/21/11 at 09:56:31

Stock muffler........ 12 lbs
Harley shorty muffler........ 4lbs
Stock rear fender......... 11lbs
belt guard......... 3lbs

Anybody got a whole engine out?...  What's that weigh?... I'd really like to know, 'cause I just put one in, and I meant to weigh it, but forgot...
It is heavy, ... I know that much!...
... or a frame?...

3 lbs sounds heavy for the belt guard...

Just tossed a frame (no title).  If you'd have asked a few days earlier, I coulda weighed it for ya.

I think I remember reading awhile back where the thumper was 110lbs.

Just so happens I do have my engine out of the frame. With no oil in the engine and without the carb, it weighed 108 pounds.

Well for sure if we leave that out we'll get a lot better gas mileage

You can shave a lot of weight by chopping it in half and removing the internals.

Oh cool!,... I thought it was only 100lbs...
Now I feel like Superman...
a much smaller version... :-?...

Casey,... I'm sure there was a reason for that...

I have pedals for footpegs,...
but, I didn't go that far... ;D...

It's a test fitting jig. It's easier than with a complete bike since it's light enough to be moved around and set on a work bench. We needed the belt drive pulleys in tact to test things like the clearance of the belt guard and rearset brackets at different suspension travel lengths. We also use it to test fit tanks (tanks and tank mounts are stamped and sold as matching pairs to ensure a proper fit).

Wow, I didn't think it weighed that much! A Triumph 650 unit twin only weighs 130 and by BSA 500 single weighed 96!
