Do you need to do any modifications
to your existing forks, for these to
be installed on the bike?
Do they just fit certain years?
Do they do anything besides look
nice on the bike? Like do they help
soften the bounce on the forks?

keep bugs out of the fork seals, the hard shells tend to cut the seal.

If you have a fork brace, you'll need to cut the bottom off so that it sits nicely on top of the brace.

They protect your fork tubes, and in turn, make the seals last longer...
Plus,... they're purdy...

Fit all years. You may have to remove the hard plastic fork guards on newer models.
The tubes must be dropped down out of the triple clamps to install. Not hard if you can raise the front end up a foot off the ground.

Daystar series "58" by MSR... are a good fit.

I came across some pink ones the
other evening. It got me to wondering
about the possibility of adding them
to Genie.

Rancho shock boots work & are available in several colors, about $5 each. I got mine at O'Reilly auto parts.

I ordered some just the other day. It would be nice if they were a little shorter rather than intended for long-travel dirt bikes.

Whatever you fit, make sure there are holes or a space for drainage at the bottom rear.

Water will get in and if it's trapped it'll do ugly things to your seals and the insides of your forks.

With the fork brace, you have to cut off that bottom skirt anyway.. drainage and ventilation will not be a problem.

The total length isn't a problem either, since you choose the accordion fold where you will make your cut. There is plenty of hold-down force to keep the boots seated if you keep all the whole zigzaggy part, just make the cut nice and square.

RidgeRunner13, the boots look handsome on your bike as well..
Thanks for the tip on where you got yours. I checked local places
around here, their available and not expensive either.
When I showed hubby and asked about putting them on Genie, he
kind of wrinkled up his nose at that. Then I told him how they would
help protect the fork seals. That seemed to make the nose less wrinkled.. ;D
I could buy them and have them here, polish up on my sweet talking, cook him his favorite dinner. Hmm do you see a pattern here? ;D ;D ;D kim

Do they make boots that are put on without dropping forks? I know they used to make split CV joint boots for cars, but we didn't recommend them where I worked, because by the time we found them to be ruined the CV joint was usually ruined from grit and water. Do they make them for the 650 and are they any good if they do?

Whats made FOR the 650 & wht you can scrounge are 2 different things. If I wanted to do that Id go to an auto/truck part house & ak if anyone knows of a boot, fat enugh to fit ( that fork diameter) , with enough to overlap if you cut the length. Long as its vente at the bottom & sliced in the back & overlapped, seem a coupla toe wraps otta have ya in bizniss.

I am not known for buying OE. I think most of the folks on here would climb over a pile of Suzuki parts to get to a piece of scrap they can cut, grind, or otherwise modify. Thanks ;D
