Title: anyone ever replace the oil level sight window?
Post by sbaugz on 02/11/11 at 14:56:02

I am getting the clutch cover powder coated and the people doing it want me to take out the oil level window. I can order a new one for about $11 but am looking for advice from someone who has done this. How do I go about getting it out? What do I use to seal the new one in place after its powder coated? Thanks.

I had to seal one back in place once.
simply peel the RTV out and push the glass thru.
to replace, use the same RTV you use for the head cover.

not sure why i was making a big deal of this. I used a screwdriver to dig the gasket material out. The oil level window just popped right out. Thanks for the advice.

Speaking of RVT, here's an interesting document I fond about proper use and application.
