Looking to see how it went and maybe see some pics of how they look. Thinking of powder coating mine black for my RYCA CS-1

I like the black but don't want to strip everything down for powdercoating, nor want to fork out the $.
I plan on using duplicolor black chrome on all the shiny bits I have left, including the lowers. It is a 2 part process.

cool, i am not sure I like the look now that I see it. In order to pull it off, I think I would need to powder coat the wheels black too. looks kinda weird with the chrome wheels. I have a place that will strip and powder coat the fork lowers for $95 a pair if I decide to go that route.

I am getting the clutch cover, generator cover, oil filter cover, timing inspection cover, and belt drive cover powder coated for sure. Quote I got for those pieces was $115.

The only other piece I cannot decide on is the fender. I am thinking I want to go with the front fender on my RYCA to cut down on the dirt and stuff that gets kicked up at me. To strip and powder coat that, I was quoted $50.

The remaining little pieces left over, including the headlight bucket will be painted with a rattle can to match.

If you want the paint to stay, you'll need to at least strip the factory clear coating that's on the shiny bits. I used Rustoleum Clear Coating and Paint Remover that I found at AutoZone. It was fast and easy, and not as noxious as aircraft stripper.

motobuddha, have you heard anything from RYCA about any sort of accurate time-line for everything?

All I know is that they're starting to send out the tubes for lowering the forks and, as soon as they're available, the clip-on bars.

Their Facebook page today showed a bunch of metal parts (looked like battery box pieces, gauge mounts, side cover brackets and seat mounts) laid out, fresh from the cutter.

I think they underestimated the time it would take to produce the kits.

When the kits are ready, they'll start contacting the people who've put down deposits to find out whether they're getting the full kit or just some of it. They'll also arrange for sending in your tank and rear hub. Then you'll have to wait while they mod the tank and lace up the 18" rim.

I planning on hitting the rims with black chrome too, not sure how to handle the spokes, maybe tape them off the best I cant

I'd test that on some other chrome object.
