So, these are about a month old, but my Savage is the only means of getting around I have. I made this bike carrier to go mountain biking come summer. Just thought someone would enjoy these pics.

The squirt in the photos is me.

Not the way I would do it, but power to ya if it works.

Make sure to hang something on the other side so it balanced.

I be concerned if you got off balance on that side, can't stick your leg out too far or that bar will come down on it.

I woulda built a rack on back to hang that front end on.

yeah have you riden it like that with the bike on it? does look quite off balance. I've seen bikes towing trailers. I probably woulda made a trailer to fit a bike or maybe even two bikes on the back. But if it works.. then great.. nice fabricating..

I came up with a different approach - I bought a folding bike, then built a rack for that:

I basically slide the seat tube over a mounted section of 1" black pipe.

I see you used the fork clamps. One idea that I had was to put fork clamps on the rear rack, end then drag the bike with the back wheel on the ground - I decided not to, as I wasn't sure what effect highway speeds would have on a bicycle tire with a speed rating of 20mph.

Tire would be OK with no load on it, but I would be concerned about the wheel bearing spinning that fast for that long.

Mine handled the occasional 45 & 50 MPH with me on it,. Packing the bearings on the bikes I had was no problem, spent loads of time tuning wheel bearings, setting spoke tensions, head bearings, crank bearings, if ya wanna ride one hard, youd better have it set up right,

when i was in hawaii you would see lots of people riding bicycles with surfboard mount similar to what you have there. cool deal
