Title: Finished my project!
Post by feelinjunky on 01/20/11 at 23:01:35

Well, it's finally done. HARD KROME exhaust. 7" K&N filter w/ stock air tube. LOVE the deep sound. It's amazing. Wish it were a little louder, but it's a SIGNIFICANT improvement over stock. 155 main 55 pilot. 1/2 spacer. I think I'm running slightly rich because there is small amount of black residue on end of pipe after riding. I need to adjust idle mixture screw next. Many thanks to you guys for the excellent info in the tech section and LANCER for hooking me up with the exhaust  :)

Looks good, but is there a reason why you mounted the slash pointed up like that? I usually see the slash either pointed outward or downward.  :-?

Yep, that pipe looks perfect on the Savage.

The old-skool "Savage" graphics on the tank look a whole lot better than those cheesy "Boulevard" badges too.

Really had no choice. It's a Harley exhaust and the mounts are fixed. Can't really rotate it too much. Just bolted it where it lined up. Fairly good fit. Sounds really deep. The best way I can describe it is that is sounds like a helicopter in both pitch and loudness.  :)

It'll start a trend. Go to Sturgis next year and everyone will be doing it that way.   ;D

Nice!  Which K&N filter did you use?

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=RU-3590

7" long 4" at top ans 2" at bottom. This is the biggest one that fits. I used a 2" plumbing right angle joint. The filter at the opening is 2.75" and fits perfectly.
