Title: vinyl stickers
Post by stinger on 01/11/11 at 01:09:56

I need to repaint my tank.  I want to use one of the vinyl decals found here.
http://www.immortalgraphix.com/

Most likely one of the red dragon graphics. I assume they are applied over the paint and clear coating. Has anyone attempted to clear coat over the top of the vinyl? Would it look kinda hokey? Would the clear coating dissolve the sticker? Sure don't want to go to all the work for nothing. Hope someone in here might be of some help! Thanks!

You may get a bump on the edge of the vinyl if you clear coat on top of it, and of course it's very hard to remove the vinyl once clear coat is on.

I did up a tank with those exact vinyl graphics (from immortalgraphix) and wished I HAD put a clear coat or something over them.   Get a few drops of gas on them during a fill-up and they will curl and peel like crazy.
