at that price you cant go wrong,if you think it will be much to fix up ,break it down and sell it in parts

You need to go to Virago.com and check out the model you are buying.

Remember, these bikes are all well over 20 years old and Yamaha quit providing parts for them like a decade ago.

Breakers are always breaking up some bikes, but some of the electronics are aging out (potting materials, diodes, transistors, you name it) and good ones are getting scarce.

There was an old dude who unpotted and rebuilt black boxes as a labor of love, but now he's being loved on a higher plane and we do sorely miss him for many good reasons ....

The community can still support the bikes until something dies that you have to wait to find a "good 'un" that someone will part with.

The bikes still keep on kicking mechanically though -- doesn't seem to be much of an upper mileage number on them.

Their cam chains keep on keepin' on --

;)

The Virago 750 was being manufactured and marketed until at least '98 or '99 (a friend had a '98 XV750) ... solid and reliable ... and a centerstand too! The early V'gos were notorious for problems with their starting motors ... something to do with a nylon bushing or something?? Anyhoo, Yamahog straightened that out in the later years of the model.
Good find! Good luck!

I agree with Mick! Buy it and if nothing else sell it for parts. A couple of years ago I went with Greg D and picked up a old 70 something Honda 750 on its way to the scrap yard. He took it home and sold every part of the bike on E-Bay. His profit? $1,700. He sold the side covers for over $70 a piece alone. He mostly does this now rather than work on bikes out of his shop. He buys old clunkers and sell them and makes a decent living. Much easier and less time consuming than repairing.

Too many title problems with the Virago, owner never transfered the title and gave this owner a copy of it. so it would cost the last owner $85 to change it to this owner then transfer it to me!no thanks I want something I can get a plate on and ride.

A guy I ride with occasionally has and '87 1100cc model he bought new. The Man is happy with it and never talks about getting anything else. Has mega miles on it also.
