Title: back-up site...
Post by Serowbot on 11/18/10 at 22:05:32

Just a note to Rubbersider's that never venture into the Cafe...
There is a back-up site, to this site ....
Bookmark it,... and become a member, if you want to reserve your Savage, "nom de plume"...

... as it seems, no current members are any longer, in contact with the founder of this site....

Just in case... ;)...

I take it someone is populating the alternate site? Seems to be a lot missing...

Thanks, Piglet...  I forgot the important part... :-?...

PS,.. Bubba, no,... no one is transferring all the info, that I know of...  don't know how...
just a place to meet up, and start over if need be...
It'd be nice,... to have, at least, the tech section backed up...

I think that this is a great idea. I would hate to lose all the valuable information as well as a great community within the world wide web. What is it going to take to get at least the tech section backed up??  :-?

After my trip next week I'll see if there is a way to pull the wealth of info out of this site and at the very least back it up somewhere...

Title: Re: back-up site...
Post by Serowbot on 11/19/10 at 07:37:27

...somebody a lot smarter than me...
Boule'tard created the alternate site, ... but I think it takes the cooperation of this sites management, to copy it over...

... but, a least become a member over there, and bookmark it,...

Title: Re: back-up site...trouble registering
Post by splash07 on 11/19/10 at 08:22:36

I tried to get registered to the new site and it told me that I already had an account so I tried to log in and it said that the user name and password were not valid. I then tried to send myself the password and it said that the email I had entered was associated with a different username but that the username I use here had already been taken there. Is someone trying to steel my savage ID?

It is true, I have been checked out for quite awhile now, however I see the value in this community that *YOU* have created.

No worries guys SuzukiSavage.com is not going anywhere. I have no intention of taking this site down.

I have made a couple of changes to the site in recent days.

1. I have taken down the store.

The store proved to be too much, in light of my personal life.

2. I have added 'google adsense' ad to the header.

Not sure that this is going to stay as I have only seen public
   service ads so far...

This has been in attempt to generate a little automated cash flow
for the maintenance of the site and some lunch money.  ;)

I am open to your ideas on this subject.

Thank you guys & gals for keeping this place alive and well during my absence.

John,

Have you considered naming some new moderators?

In particular, the Tech Section needs someone empowered to do routine maintenance similar to what Rob used to do -- it has become so junked up that it is practically useless to a new person trying to find technical information on a given topic.

I would volunteer for this task as I value the information that the Tech Section contains and want to see it cleaned up and indexed properly.

John, No one can cry forever, laugh forever, or hurt forever. Keep going, one day at a time. Unless you need to take it one hour at a time. Barry

It's just a backup site. You'll most likely not see any activity over there unless this forum goes down.

I'm glad to see active forum members taking Moderator positions here. Thanks for volunteering guys.

The older you get the Grim Reaper becomes a better friend.   This year he took my wife's father and mother, and my god-mother.  I was suppose to see Moses Lake in June, but in April I learned a quadruple by-pass.  Except they only did three, since my heart is partially dead.  Three weeks later I had a stroke and I have been on disability since.  I learn yesterday that my 86-year-old mother has cancer.

On the other hand, mom's cancer is breast cancer and is expected to be just lopped off.  My stroke only took language, memory and body are fine.  The heart is only partially dead, still running about 1/3 speed, which is all I really need to ride.  I am planning a 5K bike tour to the GEEIA Reunion in June in Biloxi, see the Dragon, and cousin in Colorado Springs.  Year after that I will be looking for you in June '12.  I hope you will be willing to meet me.
