Title: Handle Bar Spacers
Post by BarneyBWilde on 10/28/10 at 17:46:14

Just wondering, I saw some spacers that came with Blue Collar Bobbers Kit that where 1 1/2" .  Where can I find the bolts and spacers?  I Searched a few sites still turning up nothing.  Any info would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

craftsman makes nice spacers, comes in two sizes.
deep or regular 3/4" sockets, 3/8" drive.
size the bolts to fit

i made my spacers at work and then went to the local hardware store to get longer bolts and nuts to fit. i used aluminum bar stock to make them. looks decent but i was more about function anyway.

Some guy once said he used the footpegs from his kids mongoose bicycle. On another note, make sure them are hardened elongated bolts. Would be a real bummer to have the handlebars snap off going 65 over a big, unseen bump in the road.

I found this site, you guys think these would work?  If so 7/16" or 1/2" ?  3/8"  is not available in 2".

Those dimensions are for the inside diameter of the spacer. Not knowing off the top of my head, what size the bolts are, I would guess go larger, i.e. 1/2" (These spacers are still only 1" outside diameter & then is available in either 2", 2 1/2" or 3" lengths) - Other options are available for less $$$ too.

well I was looking for 3/8" that are 2" Long, But now I'm thinking I will go with the 7/16" 1 1/2"  Spacers because that is the size that comes with the BBC kit.  Just not sure of the bolt size since I haven't operated on her yet.

I've gotta say, using sockets worked perfectly for me...

Got my bars in couple a days ago, I was gonna use the sockets for spacers.  Any idea what size bolts or what kind?  I was gonna pull them out this morning so I could stop at the hardware store and pick up the bolts but left my allen wrenches at work.  Any info would be helpful

Measure from the bottom of the handle bar to the end of the bolt.
Then add the length of the spacer.
Don't be afraid to get one too long.

The bolt is metric, but 3/8 works better as the metric size won't fit thru the socket.

Also buy the higher grade bolt for the handle bar.
