Title: Intruder shocks Post by jef.savage on 10/16/10 at 13:28:48 I read on here that shocks off an Intruder are a nice upgrade so I decided to try it since I have an extra set. They raised the back of the bike about two inches which looks a little weird to me but definitely improved the ride. Also more comfortable with the seat a bit higher. (I already raised the front of the seat. |

Title: Re: Intruder shocks Post by mark_k on 10/17/10 at 07:35:14 I switched to a set of Progressive 412's using the Intruder specs about a year ago. The shocks I chose were 1/2" longer than the stock Savage shocks. They definitely improved the position and the ride, esp with 2 up. (Bought the HD shocks). The only thing I had to adjust was the headlight alignment to raise it slightly to compensate for the higher ride in the rear. Makes for a sweet handling and riding bike. |

Title: Re: Intruder shocks Post by mark_k on 10/17/10 at 14:21:34 When I bought them, I think I paid around $230.00 for the pair. Found them at Phat Performance Parts for $214.00 (Heavy Duty) on a quick search. I used the HD sets as I am 6'0" and 225, wife is 140. We ride 2 up with the preload in the middle (3rd position). I ride solo in the lowest preload position. http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/SearchResults.asp?searchWText=&sortBy=&page=&Extensive_Search=&Config_SearchResultsRows=&search=412-4236C&Search.x=0&Search.y=0&mfg= I love my set even though they are a little pricey. I think they are well worth the money. The 11" STD shocks are 412-4233C and the 11.5" STD Shocks are 412-4201C |
Title: Re: Intruder shocks Post by verslagen1 on 10/17/10 at 15:19:57 if you be patient, you can watch fleabay for a deal. picked up a 412-1005 and a 440 something for around $150 each. down load the progressive catalog and look up the part numbers. 11" shock give you 2" of travel, 1/2" better than stock. if you're a light weight or your combined weight is less than 250#, then the 1005's will do. other wise you want the 4233's or a 4022. the spring rate is 115-150# btw, 412-1005 is the sportster shock, very common. and you'll need to make a bushing, a tube with .030" wall is all that it is. |
