Wow! Your bike turned out really good Jrm8486! BTW, when I had my accident  only my front end got damaged. The backrest I got from you didn't get hurt at all thankfully. My bike is slowly coming back together.Still waiting on the front fender which is suppose to be here on Monday even though I won't get to ride for a while.Sorry for rambling, anyway,I really like how you fixed up your bike!

Thank you for the offer Jrm8486 but we went ahead and ordered a brand new one from the stealership as hubby was afraid it would be too hard to match the paint up. Mine is the '09 red/white which actually looks more pink than red. We were lucky in finding a motorcycle junk yard down here with a savage in it and got a lot of parts off of it and my brother in law 's friend owns a dealership so we were able to get the rest of the parts at my brother in law's discount price. My bike had way more damage than my husband's yet isn't costing us near as much to fix as my husband's!I love my s40! :)

I figure, ride it all winter then start cleaning it up in the summer rainy season down here. wheels could us some polish and new paint just have to pick a color.

new savage owner here with a few questions for you.
1st off I love the look of your bike
2nd what filter do you have and where could i find one like it
3rd where did you get the bib from? I would like to loose the rear seat on mine as well.
Great upgrades IMO!

i want to say the size is 57mm, but anything up to a 60mm will work with a clamp.

jrm, do you have any plans on removing the airbox now that it isn't necessary? i did on mine and am now thinking about a way to move the battery back where the airbox sat to open up the middle a little more.

also, the battery seems to always be just in the way of me working on the carb, every time. i only need another half an inch, every time!

I like the side covers,I'm using the air box for all the stuff that was under the rear seat.

Excuse the dumb question, but what is the function of the filter on the right side of the photo (toward the front of the bike) on the close up of carb area? The one on the back of the carb is obvious enough to me as a replacement for the whole stock set up of the boot to air box.
