Title: Bolt sizes

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew the size of the bolts on the triple tree (if thats what uts called, im still learning) are? I'm removing the forks and I know I don't have the right socket on hand. I searched and didn't find sizes. And could anyone tell me the type of oil and how much to put in the fork tubes? Might as well change it while they're off. Thanks!

IDK what size they are, but if I needed to, Id most likely grab my OOOOOFishyal Harbor Freight digital callipers & measure across the flats while it was spittin out the readout in Millimeters. but im complicated that way

The center one is about 28-30mm I believe. The 2 on the side are like 32-34mm I would be able to tell you but my cousin stole my sockets so I can't measure em up. Worst comes to worst you can just use a pipe wrench, just watch the fork ones because they will spring up at ya like a can of worms.

Fork oil: 14.91oz of Dexron ATF or SAE 15W fork oil, I used the ATF because it was cheaper  ;D

They are 8mm bolts and the part is a dog bone riser.

JOG read my mind. I have some flimsy calipers made of orange plastic. Got them at a hardware store in that big $1.99 table as you walk in the door. 2 sets, one large and one small. Not certified to work on the Space Shuttle, but work great around the house.

If you don't have a metric caliper use anything to measure, even a crescent wrench. If it is real close to 5/16ths it is an 8mm. Most likely with a 1.50 thread but possibly a 1.25. One is a standard thread and the other is a fine thread.
If you have metric open end wrenches use the 8mm one to measure diameter. If the bolt won't slip between the jaws it is probably a 10mm  bolt.  A little imagination can go a long way to improvise.
BTW if you hold a ten mm wrench to it and count the threads between the jaws, a little math will give you the thread pitch.
Metric threads for medium size bolts go as 1.0,  1.25,  1.50,  1.75..
That is mm per thread so it is simple math.

Maybe if the moron got enough oxygen he could do the math.
