so im planing to adjust my valves for the first time i am somewhat of a wrench turner i just need a guide to finding the flywheel to place the TDC.

left-side of engine,... big round slotted plate in the center of the case...
Finding a tool for that slot is your new challenge... many folks here use an old front brake pad plate... get creative, but don't booger it up, your gonna' do this a lot... ;)...

Some guys have an old front brake pad for a tool to pop that cover, others have found & used other things. Just be very Coool about tightening that plug going back together. Its easy to jam them in there & have a bad time getting them back out.

Yes an old brake pad fits in there tightly.

Just did mine a month or so ago.  We shaved down the edge of a big washer and it worked great.  Have fun!
