Title: S40 License Plate Bulb Replacement
Post by paulchristi on 10/01/10 at 14:37:25

Mine burned out....looking at the plastic cover, I realized that when I start randomly prying and poking with my screwdriver I tend to start breaking stuff.

Could anyone give me a tip on how to replace this bulb?

Thanks!

Look on the back of the light, on the other side of the license plate bracket.  2 small nuts come off, then the entire bulb assy falls apart off the front.  Be careful that you see how it came apart.
Hold the plastic cover in place as you take the nuts off, then you can pull just that cover off while leaving the rest in place... maybe.
A good idea would be to see a parts breakdown before you start.
Lots of parts fiches on the internet.

Look at the "Rear Combination Light" diagram

thanks, youz!  This is exactly what I was looking for.  I would have wreaked havoc with the screwdriver.
