Title: fog lights
Post by GrateFuLDad on 09/21/10 at 21:50:51

trying to add some fog lights to the bike....

couldnt find anything in search on them...

anyone done this before...?

was hoping to maybe hook them into the bright light switch/wire but having trouble doing so...

in other words wanting to flip bright light switch and hopefully have it cut on fog lights and bright light...

can this be done ...

doing it this way keeps me from having to have a toggle switch to have to mount some where else...

if cant be done i will have to use extra toggle but would like to run through bright light switch/wire?

You need a relay to run the lights directly from the battery. My way has been, Hot from the battery to the relay switch in and from switch out to the lights. From the high beam lead to a switch then to the relay. This way you have an option of using the accessory with running light or not. Actually you may want fogs on the low beam line. I run driving lights off my high.

people have installed up to 95/55 watt bulbs, so I would suggest keeping the collective wattage below that if you plan on connecting to the headlight wiring.

High beams and fog lights don't go together.  The high beam creates glare that will blind you.

great points thanks to you both......  i guess it seems easier to just run it normal then.... and use the toggle switch rather than getting into the wireing on the bike... that ways i can cut them on/off when i want....

if i can find a nice way of adding the toggle switch up next to the light switch on handle bars that will be nice to have them together..

You can check on these (18th item down) but call and ask Gorden if it fits 1" bars or if he can order that size. Most of the older Guzzi's are 7/8".http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?cPath=37&osCsid=f19672d78218c5e3b5268899211337d4

yea, please post some pics when you are done.  Curious about the set up.

Found this mount on ebay, not that you need it and I don't know if it would fit our bike either, but I thought it had some interesting ideas...

i really like that......
one of the most difficult things i found was where to mount the fog light and even worse.. HOW to mount them....

I ended up drilling two holes under head light and mounted them...

Now this isnt for anyone else i understand but it really looks good...

I took my window off cause i like the bike without it... and past owner did alot of damage scratching up the glass for me real good and cracking it at bottom....

also took mounting brackets off that held window....
they were corroded and didnt look right on all that clean polish under them ;)

i tried to mount the fog lights to them but it was useless and i didnt like the look of it...

the bar you have linked there looks interesting and is exactly what i would of needed.... still could use possible and add two more ;)

you would have to wait for one of the gurus here to tell you if it would fit possibly or not.... i am really not sure....

hope to have pics up this weekend possibly....
