Title: bore/hone cylinder
Post by DangMan on 09/17/10 at 08:49:11

A freind asked me if it was possible to bore/hone the cylindeer on the savage and i had to reply " ?"
I know its possible to hone any cylinder to a point, but I just dont know how much I would gain. He talked about maby 800ccm but i think that would be a bit much.... maybe would get it up to 700+- but I dont think it is worth it !
This is a retorical question, I dont have any intension on carying this procjekt out irl.

Yes, if oversized pistons are available.
Stock pistons used to be available to +1mm
You can also use a high compression piston from a dr650
look up lancers Rex

You can get close to 700cc from an overbore with a Wisco piston. You will get more power and torque. To go any bigger you will need to increase the stroke and that gets very expensive but could gat you about 750cc.
You still will not have a racing engine.
The gentle Savage makes about 34 HP as is.
The DR650 makes about 42 HP in stock trim and with after market goodies can get to about 50 HP.
If your need is for speed, it is also for a different bike.

Phelonius  been there done that

The largest over bore you can go without getting too expensive is 3mm over from 94-97. 97mm piston will put you at about 700cc but the sleeve is on the knife's edge of "too thin". However suzuki only has .5mm overbore piston/rings available anymore. If you want to go larger you're "stuck" with a wiseco piston which will also increase your Compression ratio, though I dont know by how much exactly. You're best bet for a scorcher is a combination of mods most all available from Lancer.
