Title: Yet another muffler question.
Post by Tom K on 08/27/10 at 03:57:53

I just got a set of Harley mufflers for free.  I wasn't sure which bike he had, but for free what the heck, right? Besides...they have zero miles on 'em.  The guy had them swapped when he bought the bike.

They end up being Electra Glide mufflers ('96 I think).  Any one attempt using these?  I can already see that I'll have to grind some chrome and weld on a bracket (no biggie, I've got a welder)

Model number is 65538-95b.

I put the screamin eagle one on, you may have to make a new ring, get a new clamp and drill the muffler bracket on the bike to make it fit but in all it shouldnt be a big deal. Post a pic when it's on.

I got it installed.  Sounds really nice. I ran some angle steel from stock mount to the mount holes on muffler.
The clamp to the head pipe not quite as tight as I'd like, but I'll tackle that and the carb another day.

Tom, would you consider selling me the other one? I have another project in mind. Please PM.

The other one has a catalytic converter built in. May restrict the flow too much. Don't know why a bike would have a standard and a cat, but thats the way Harley does it.
Let me know if your still interested Dasch.
