Title: Another question from a new savage rider Post by dv8savagerider on 08/13/10 at 17:30:40 Just wondering how many miles people are getting on their tank of gas before having to switch over to reserve? I have been averaging around 100 is that good, bad, average? The bike is an 01 Savage with 3600 miles on it. Thanks for the input. |
Title: Re: Another question from a new savage rider Post by bill67 on 08/13/10 at 17:44:02 I go on reserve about mid 130 miles,I average about 63 miles to the gallon,I'm pretty close to stock and use 100% gasoline |
Title: Re: Another question from a new savage rider Post by ALfromN.H. on 08/13/10 at 18:02:10 I look for a gas station at 100 miles but I don't hit reserve until 120+ miles. |

Title: Re: Another question from a new savage rider Post by alcoa on 08/13/10 at 19:37:37 With a wipe off marker I put my milage on my gas cap, so at about 120 miles I look to get gas. I get 61mpg. |
Title: Re: Another question from a new savage rider Post by Routy on 08/14/10 at 06:00:55 The general rule is 50mpg. I live in 45mpg country, not a flat road here, some perdy steep. But I did one tank at relatively flatter riding, and forced myself to stay out of heavy throttle range, and got middle 50s. IMO, no one gets 60+ and had any fun doing it ::) |
Title: Re: Another question from a new savage rider Post by bill67 on 08/14/10 at 06:51:25 Routy put that spacer back in and go to richer high speed jet and you will have more power and better MPG. |

I tried that. 155 main, full spacer. It didn't cruise well, had a bucking/surging issue at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. Putting a half spacer in did cost me some MPG, but it cruises much smoother. To answer the original question: about 100 miles to reserve More if it's highway miles, less if it's city miles or short rides. -D. Dwarf |
