I recently ordered a pickup coil that was supost to be 200 omh. The coil turned out to be 181 omh will this work or do I need another coil of better specs. the book calls out 200 - 240 omh and the bike will not turn start please help :-/

Seems to be a little short on information. Pickup coil? For what? And the "bike will not turn start" isn't especially clear, either. I would assume the poster meant "ohm", but the spelling "omh" could possibly mean "mho" which is also a valid unit.

220 ohms plus or minus 20% =

sorry about the begining post and the spelling. I have installed the ignition pick up coil the bike now seems to be out of time. the bike is back fireing when it tries to fire. I have tried to find information in the manual about setting the timeing but found nothing. I do aprecate the coil specifications thank you.

There is no information about setting the timing because there is no adjustment. The rotor is keyed to the crankshaft and the pickup is secured to the stator cover. I suppose it is possible someone managed to put the rotor onto the crankshaft without the Woodruff key. The other possibility is an incorrect ignition module, as there are differences between early and late systems.

the old ignition pick up coil was shorted. do you think this would degrade the ingnition moduale

In general I wouldn't think a shorted ignition pickup coil would damage the ignitor module. If the coil also shorted to ground, things may change.

Did you get the right pickup for your engine? I think that there are differences between the four speed and five speed ignition pickups.
