Post by relic624k on 08/02/10 at 12:15:23

My rear tire blew out last night and looking to purchase a new one but dont know if i should stay with the O.E
IRC tire or with a Shinko SR734 150/80/15 i found for 70 bucks. Can i install a tubeless tire on a 2007 s40?

I bought a pirelli MT66 for about that from a local shop. It's taller but so far I like it. 140/90 15

I just had a Dunlop D404 140/90 installed today.  Had 6000 miles on the original IRC ('06 model).  Rode back to work, and it seems ok so far.  A few use it, and the shop guy recommended it.  And it was cheaper than the Bridgestone or Kenda that he quoted me.  I forgot to ask about the Pirelli, I wish I would have.

As others warned me, I will warn you, be extra careful for the first few (25-100?) miles.  Compound on the new tires makes them slick.  Find my thread, I forgot exactly what someone said it is.

Oh, and you gotta run tubes if you still have spokes.

Scrub it in the first 100 miles, easy corners, keep your speed down a bit, avoid rain/water if possible.

I just put a duro 140/90/15 on mine. Local shop sells a lot of them as well as dunlop 404's to the harley guys.
I figure id run it till fall and it and the front should need to be replaced. Then put a set of pirellis on front and rear.

Got mine with heavy duty tube(90 degree valve) and new rim strip taken off, changed and put back on for $116.
Seems to ride handle better and i can even feel the 'texture' of the road better. Had more tread depth then a pirelli to.
