Title: Needing a right footpeg, can I use aftermarket?
Post by Jive on 07/30/10 at 19:49:46

Hello!  I am a new motorcycle owner, and got a 2000 Savage as a first bike.  The right footpeg was bent, and eventually the metal shaft inside broke in half.   I was looking at OEM footpegs, but I'm wondering if there are any aftermarket pegs I can use that are cheaper?  $60 for a peg seems a bit steep for the OEM one!  For what it's worth, I did try and repair the old one with JB weld, but it held all of 5 minutes!

Thanks!

Jive

If you broke the allen headed 'bolt' that holds the peg in place, and your peg is still good, it may be cheaper to replace just that part.  You'll need it anyway.  I replaced the front pegs with some Kyurakan (sp) and needed to drill out the pegs a bit to fit the stock bolt.

Thanks for the reply!

The allen head bolt is still good, but the metal peg that slips into the rubber had bent, and eventually broke.  I may have fixed it with some JB weld and some metal bracing over the break.

You should post over in the market looking for a right foot peg.  I broke my right one (reason for replacing them all) and recently sent someone the left one for $0.  You may get lucky and find a cheap one.  Or try ebay.

Kel i was thinking of doing this mod to my pegs.  will any male mount harley peg work.  i have the stock peg off and i see it looks different then the harley.  has that weird looking hook at the end while the harley is just a male mount with a hole in it.
