Title: New to the forum Post by Arnold on 07/21/10 at 11:57:47 Hello all and welcome to me! Just purchased a 96 (pic to follow). Looking forward to do some mods. First, would like to remove the passenger seat and do the one seat thing with the spring underneath. Next, I want to install forward controls. I am looking forward to anyone who may have some tips. Thank you all! |

Title: Re: New to the forum Post by james may on 07/21/10 at 13:24:16 There's brackets and junk under the passenger seat so you'll néed to relocate that junk and get a new fender. Couple of people on market place are selling forward controls under 100$. They look goofy cause savage already has forward controls and they're just more forward, but helps get ya somemore room. |

Title: Re: New to the forum Post by Arnold on 07/21/10 at 15:56:18 Thnx guys, I'll look into the controls. I want to do the seat thing first, I think it changes the look a lot. This bike is all stock, only 2k miles and I'd like to give it some character. |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by Arnold on 07/21/10 at 16:05:49 Ok, just looked at the forward control mod and you're right, I dont think I like the look, project on hold. On to the seat mod... |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by babyhog on 07/21/10 at 17:02:45 Nice looking bike. If you decide to do away with the tank bib, be sure to post it in The Marketplace (OR PM ME!) first! Oh, and Welcome! :) |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by Arnold on 07/21/10 at 17:40:59 The bib came with it, I actually like it. Now I have to get a side mounting bracket for the license plate, get a shorter fender and find a way to get rear lights on it, I'd like a single seat with springs. Maybe a job for this winter. Are there some parts to buy out there that fits without having to drill and rewire, etc... |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by james may on 07/21/10 at 18:14:21 You can go blue collar bobber they have a kit pretty expencive as compared to a trailer fnder and some after market tail lights, but also as close to bolt on as you will ever come.. http://bluecollarbobbers.com/web/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=24&category_id=9&lang=en&page=shop.browse&TreeId=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=24 Seat and fender and plate mount 700 and another 165 for lights that you will have to wire in. Alternatively a trailer fender is like 20 dollars eBay turns 25 eBay model t replica light 45... And eBay springer seat 50... So about 100 for the same effect... |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by Arnold on 07/21/10 at 18:24:45 Looks nice but pricey. I may take the cheaper route you suggested, could be a good learning experience. Although there's gonna be a lot of swearing involved. |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by kimchris1 on 07/21/10 at 21:15:18 swearing costs extra.. ;D ;D ;D ;D |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by stinger on 07/21/10 at 23:35:21 get rid of the stock muffler. Buy a after market harley muffler, a jardine or better yet a supertrapp. |
Title: Re: New to the forum Post by Arnold on 07/22/10 at 05:02:37 Yea, will look into that. Which one has the black tape around it? Or can it be added to any straight pipe? |
