Title: 2011 S40
Post by jef.savage on 07/19/10 at 15:39:08

At the moment.  Suzuki's website only lists two cruisers for 2011. The M109 and the S40.  It appears the only change is colors-- silver/white and gold/black.  (They call the gold orange but it doesn't look orange to me.)

Well I was hoping they would have done something really special for the 25th anniversary, like fuel infection.  ::)

Well, look at the good side,...that means in a few years if I buy a used '11, and it ever quits running, at least I can figure out why, instead of just standing there looking stupid while the "HOOK" shows up !  :o ;D

It is good to know that what I break my motorcycle I will still be able to get a new LS650.

I kinda like the orange/black one. :o

Couldn't get a pick of the white/silver one to work, but it looks like it's the same as the old one, with the white/silver areas reversed.  Fairly snazzy also.

wow...that black/orange scheme looks really good to me. I notice they're not blacking out the cylinder/head anymore. Wonder why. Im very pleased in general that the savage has another year long lease on life. Here's hoping it stays around even longer.

Yes, the black cylinder need to stay...especially since the bike has black now.

Oooh, I kinda like the black/orange too.  Snazzy!  Don't care much for the silver/white though.  The silver looks blue-ish to me.

And the "proper" colors are --
Pearl Mirage White/Metallic Veil Silver and
Metallic Fox Orange/Glass Sparkle Black
Well, La-de-dah!

I'm guessing they started with the largest and smallest cruisers, they'll fill in the middle eventually.  But.... I'm wondering if its because there will be more changes to the 800's and 1500's??

If I could have any influence with the Suzuki Corporation, I would ask them to take the S40 engine and put it in a Standard frame, like they did transforming their little GZ250 cruiser http://www.suzuki-bikes.com/images/bikes/2005/suzuki-gz250.jpg into the newish and very handsome TU-250 http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200810/suzuki-tu250_460x0w.jpg . Add fuel injection and redesign the cam chain adjuster and style it like a BSA Gold Star http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/photogallerys/bsa-gold-star.jpg -- that would be a worthy bike, being a big, modern street thumper. That bike would be at the top of its class instead of being at the bottom as is the Savage/S40 in the cruiser class. For me, I love the character of the engine; I just don't like the Cruiser riding position compared to a Standard - too passive and harder on both the back and back-side.

...what? no pink this year   :'(

I love the TU250, it's just kinda pricey

Check out this orange job from some guys in japan!  (sportster style)

Apparently, they made changes to the C50 for 2009, although not real major, seat mounts, slight cosmetics, some other stuff.  I know this because most of the good aftermarket seats for sale on ebay and others are for 2008 and earlier, and won't fit my '09 (I actually have an email from Mustang stating they're different). >:(  S'pose I'll have to pony up and pay full price eventually. :P

edit:  I just stumbled across a pic of the silver/white (excuse me, "Pearl Mirage White/Metallic Veil Silver") that I can post!

the colors are called "Pearl Mirage White/Metallic Veil Silver and Metallic Fox Orange/Glass Sparkle Black"

the orange looks more like copper to me in the photos and I like it
of course it may look different in the showroom

I'm wondering the same thing since the candy ruby magenta on the 2009 S40 sure looks pink in the show room.
