Title: Help with a SuperTrapp
Post by gerald.hughes on 07/18/10 at 08:30:16

I bought a SuperTrapp used from SevierSavage here on the site to replace the Sportster muffler on my bike, and I have been very happy with it.  Lately however, I have developed a problem and I am stumped.  Hoping to get a little help or advice from other site members.

I have developed a metallic rattle in the muffler.  At first, I thought that the screws in the baffles might have come loose, and that the baffles were rattling.  I checked, and all of the screws were tight.  Then I noticed that the entire baffle assembly seems to be loose.  I know that these mufflers can be rebuilt, but I have no idea how the baffles are secured into the muffler.  Any help, pics, advice, would be very appreciated.

Thanks

there's 2 bolts on the rear edge of the muffler, remove those and the entire baffle will slide out.  for shits and giggles, lite her up while it's out.  stay away from cemeteries or you'll wake the dead.

Verslagen,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I waited till things cooled down, and I felt around the back of the end of the muffler.  I can only feel one screw or bolt, so I guess that I need to take a closer look.

they're both on the bottom, about 90° apart.

Yep, definitely lost the bolt on the bottom.  Thanks for the help.

Somehow, one of the 6 bolts holding the disks has come loose and I've lost it.  I don't know how, hard enough getting them in.  But it cured a slightly rich setting so I've left it.
