Title: better seat?
Post by Yan on 07/17/10 at 19:05:03

came across somewhere that a seat from another bike (H-D Sportster?) fits Savage? Is that right? If it is the Sportster, then which one - they seem to come with different seats, at least judging by the models I saw at a local H-D dealership. Thanks!

As far as I know there are no direct change outs.  The Sportster seat does require some modification.  Others that have done it can comment on how much.

I bought a Mustang seat for an old Ironhead, I believe, off ebay cheap.  They looked similar, but weren't even close when I tried mounting.  So I took both seats apart and put the Mustang cover and padding on my S40 seat-pan.  Got the look I wanted, and it feels great.  Oh, I had already gotten a Saddlemen raw gel insert and put in the S40 seat, which helped the feel but didn't help the look.  I used it in the Mustang seat also.
