Getting back from the trip to N.C. I've been looking at replacing my back tire. (9000 miles wasn't bad for the OEM) Thinking about the Metzeler ME 880 from Bikebandit. Anyone running these on their back tires? Seem like an upgrade from the Dunlops, and reviews say they last longer. I thought we had a saved page on tires in the tech section but I couldn't find it back. Any input would be welcome!

yes, I am on my 3rd rear Metzeler.

1st lasted 21,500. 2nd lasted 19,500.
I ride mostly country back roads. Mostly pavement, some gravel, dirt. I am fairly .. stout.
I like the Metzeler for it's longevity and handling, especially on the twisties and wet roads.

Just looked, http://www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/archives/002609.html two years, 5,500 miles, and the rear is well over 7/32" of thread going. Agrees that it will be about 20K to go.

got the 880s front and back on my 06(5k only on the oem rear)bout 5500 on them, look brand new..
ill tell you what this site told me when i bout em"get new tubes and rim liners they'll (the 880s) be on for a while"
ist 100 miles thery were a lil slik in the turns

3,000 miles on my K555 and it's almost bald. I need a new rear tire and front brake pads every year. But funny thing is I don't do burnouts or wheelies. :-?

I have Metzler tires front and back. I have about 7000 miles on the back tire and it still has plenty of tread left.

And I came back from the Dragon and took pictures of my same old $34.99 tire which went to the very first Dragon run and is only jest short of half worn out now ....

That there 'ol Dragon jest LOVES eating up your rear tires .... it's his favorite snack !!

(other than Toymaker's skin & blood that is)

on my 2nd M880! got a pair off of ebay for $70 bucks shipped!! been good so far! got 10K of the first one!! have 23K+ on the bike and on my 3rd rear!! looking for a new front now!!!
