Title: exhaust question Post by Jimmer on 06/21/10 at 14:27:26 When the idle speed drops to 1100 rpms or less I get a back fire on accelerating through the gear changes. On deceleration just the normal savage putt. I checked my plug and it is a nice gray/tan and no carbon buildup. Is this a normal sequence. I have done the Lance carb modification and have a K&N filter. The mixture screw is at 2 turns out. This incident happens when I am accelerate to gain speed for the next gear. |
Title: Re: exhaust question Post by WD on 06/21/10 at 14:43:47 Tighten the exhaust pipe nuts, the 2 where the pipe comes out of the cylinder head. They loosen off pretty regularly, Suzuki should have used a self-locking nut, not acorn nuts. Just enough air gets sucked in to light off the unburned fuel in the muffler. The Savage is a great bike, but, it is a bargain basement model. Just one of its quirks/charms. |
