Post by cornfuzed on 06/21/10 at 13:17:14

So here i am been fiddlin with the circuit screw thinkin aww its just where its so humid ive been gettin backfire shiftin gears... welp .. no sir.. i was pokin around and to my suprise i found all my screws on the top of the carb were loose... took the tank off an tightened them down.... Note to others here who might be smarter than me... if someone suggests using loctite on yer carb screws cause you are "reworkin" the carb for diffent jets etc... Listen to them...
sheesh...   ;) no more backfire on shift...

I never knew of lock tite-ing carb screws,...didn't know them coming loose to be a problem.

Before you loctite them screws, replace them with stainless hexheads or allenheads, otherwise you'll be drilling them out next time you want to get into the carb. The stock screws will strip just looking at them!

Good one! Yes, definitelly do that. Those phillips heads will not withstand the torque required.

Yeah,.. I don't think I'd be lock-titeing any carb screws...
Just replace them with allen heads and snug them up...
Don't get carried away tightening,... you're going into aluminum...
Better they come loose again, then they get stuck or stripped...

Just a bad bit of luck, them coming loose,... probably never happen again...

My guess is they didn't get tightened the last time they were removed. Seems kinda odd that they would all be loose at the same time, and especially since the carb is rubber mounted...
