Title: trouble starting
Post by danroot on 06/19/10 at 14:48:50

on my ride to work this morning i stopped to get some coffee. when i got back to on my bike, it wouldnt start. nothing funny happened on the way. when i pressed the start button, i got one click, then nothing. doesnt even try to turn over. the lights function properly and it has not been sitting for any length of time, full battery charge, new spark plug. i am at a loss . i was only a mile away from work, so i walked the rest of the way and diddnt have any time to check it out further, when i get off tonight i will be getting a closer look. fortunatley there is a kragen in the same lot i broke down in.

any help between now and the time i get off would be greatly appreciated.

check for loose or corroded terminals on the battery and engine ground.

no idea what the problem was, but when i went back to my bike i held the button down for a good 10 seconds and it finally decided to turn over. running fine.

OHHH yes it can! Thers some little stuff in there. Work in a clean place, sweep up first, so if somehing hits the ground it wont have stuff to hide in. I'd lay a towel down, so things couldnt roll. Thers a small spring in there, IIRC. Also, covering the tank to protect it if you fumble a screwdriver cant hurt. Otherwise, yea, a clean switch cant hurt a thing.
