Why? Is it busted off or what?

Post by chromosful on 06/18/10 at 13:47:43

It is worn, the engine is allways choke mode, puring the gasoline in the engine.

Dropped my carb not too long ago, the choke was bent in the process. It closes but whenever I take the carb off there is a decent amount of fuel unburnt.

Is this due to it being dropped and bent?

You take the carb off & wheres the fuel thats unburned? IN the bottom of the carb? If so, thats the bowl & its gotta have gas in it.

CHROMO, what year model is it? How many miles? How do you know its "In choke mode" when its pushed in?

Spunky style? Justin, I thought my english was OK, until I heard this, hahahah. Hey, the guy is Hungarian. C'mon guys, which one of you plays with stock carbs?? There's gotta be someone who can send Chromo the plunger.

Chromosful, have you tried making one in a machine shop?? It seems it's just a round piece of brass, shouldn't be to hard to make on a lathe.

I have a working stock carb that Id be willing to send you if you want to make an offer on it, but I imagine that shipping from the USA to Hungary would make it cost prohibitive. Id prefer to sell the carb itself as a working unit. Let me know.

As a side note...if its just the plunger bein bent thats causing the problem, have you tried disassembling the plunger and straightening it yourself to see if it helps?

No, no - it's spunky! Whatever that is, sounds gooood.  ;) Welcome to the club. You survived your initiation quite well.

Look, find someone with a lathe, I am sure that is no big deal for a machinist.

Cool page man. I can't read a lick of it, but looks like a bunch of guys ready to hit the road & that I can understand!

My choke plunger is wore slam out. It takes me 5 or 6 attempts before I can get it to stay half choked long enough to warm up for 30 seconds. Full choke? Forget that idea, never need it anyway. That's really the only reason I did the clutch switch bypass, so I could have a free left hand.

Ya know, it is okay to oil stuff once in a while. Things that slide in & out are things I lube occasionally,

Hahaha, I was gonna say too. I have no problem with my plunger either  :-? :-? :-?

Title: Re: choke plunger
Post by earlytimz on 06/22/10 at 05:39:51

If mine was oiled, it would never stay pulled out. That's the problem, 24+ years of use has wore it out.

Post by chromosful on 06/22/10 at 07:19:02

HAHAHAHAH, WD40??? Man, you must patent that idea. And randomly bending your plunger sounds painful!  ;D  ;D  ;D

Chromosful, again - welcome to the club!
