Title: Valves adjustment
Post by Yan on 06/08/10 at 17:39:52

Looking to buy a 2003 Savage with 10k miles on it. The owner has had it for a number of years and put around 8k miles on it, but hasn't done valve adjustment. Sounds like it should've been done at least twice already. Can the damage been already done to the engine? Any way to tell?

Second question - any special tools needed to do valve adjustment? I used to have 250cc Suzuki Marauder and acting on someone's advice I bought a set of wrenches for a completely different bike (can't remember which) but it worked wonderfully on GZ250 - would that work on Savage as well? I vaguely remember it was hard to get to both or at least one of the exhaust valves on GZ250 because of the frame being in the way - same story with Savage?

Thanks!
