Title: tkat brace
Post by stratman on 06/08/10 at 15:09:28

I just put on a tkat forkbrace (double nickel bday present), what a difference in stability!  The only question I have is what do you do with the plastic rings with the fin in the front (dirt protectors?).  I had to take them off to install the tkat.  Are they necessary or do I need gators now?-stratman

Yeah, that brace is pretty good, huh?  ;)

I was wondering the same thing after installing it.  Some models do fine with no protectors at all, but I wanted something there.  Then I found where Serowbot posted about the MSR gaiters:

They work great because they apply enough downforce on the lower part of the fork to not need the lower skirt (where the tkat now is) at all.  Just trim it off.

And happy B-day  8-)

The Tkat made a world of difference for me too.  I chucked those black plastic guards. I never got gaters but I can see where they would be a good idea. Crud could get into the fork seals and cause some oil leaking.
