Just a little about the bike. Paid $500 for it with a bad piston. Bored it .50 over. Was looking for a savage for a while to do this to. Made a swingarm 12 inches longer than the stock one. Double k&n filters. 2.5 inch exhaust. Still not sure about the jetting but getting close. 55 pilot with 170 main. Runs good, super fast. Clutch is slipping a bit but gonna take those out today and get them cleaned up. May still have to rejet a little but I'm close. No backfire at all on decell. So I think the pilot is close. I'm 2 turns out on pilot screw.

Gonna either wrap the exhault or paint it not sure what I'm gonna do there yet. Gonna paint it first and go from there. I did port out the exhaust and intake ports quite a bit so I made a restrictor plate that I put in the exhaust right after where it hooks up to the head. 1 3/4" to match the port job. Seems to be about right for back pressure. It sounds super cool. Plenty of low end power. Runs super strong up till about 85 then the clutch starts to slip. Gonna get the clutch fixed then maybe play with the gearing a bit. Not sure yet. I'm at 17/50 now and I'm thinking I may gear it a little lower. Got a 16 front I might try once I get the clutch from slipping. We'll see.

The shocks I used were off a old 1100. They're 13" and you wouldn't believe how smooth the ride is. I've been on many different bikes in my forty years and this thing is by far the smoothest best handling bike I've ever been on. I'ts a total joy to ride!!!!!!!!

Over all I am super happy with what I did. Looks long, sits low, and its super loud. So far there's been a croud around it where ever I go. Nothing but compliments so far. I'm sure that will change soon. LOL Hoping this will open up some new ideas with some people.

Yea it handles super good. You'd never know it was any longer untill you look back and see that tire way back there.

I admire the work, but why stretching it??? I'm thinking, the way you deisgned the rear fender, it would look cool had you left the swingarm stock length.
Or, since you built a new swingarm (kudos!!) how about a 16'' rear with 180/60 sports tire?

Life is a game, enjoy playing!

Awsome stretch job!

Are you going to build those swingarms for sale or would you post the construction?

Never thought about selling them. I do have a jig made.

First I bought a stock swingarm off ebay. Just so I could cut the ends and the mounts off of one and still have the original to put back if I didn't like it. Made the jig off one of the stock swingarms. Slid the rear part of the jig back one foot in a perfect straight line and filled in the middle with 11 guage 1"x2" rectangular tubing. It was acutally pretty simple.

I stretched it just because I could. Always wanted to do something a little different. Still not sure if I like everything the way it is. Lot's of different ideas in my head maybe a 250 rear maybe a 1100 inline 4 cylinder motor. Just wanted to start with the bare minimun and see if I liked the basics of the way longer swingarm. The whole rear fender section is what would work with the front fender there. I may change that whole area with a little wider fender. Just wanted to get the basics done and now I'll start fine tuning the looks from there. Any ideas are definately appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Lancer. As far as the mounts go. That's gonna have to be where they're gonna be. Only way to change that would be to get different length of shocks. It sits just the height I want it at with them where I have them now with me on it. They have also been tested with my 350lb neighbor on it with the shocks in the stiffest notch and it still is smooth as hell with him. So I guess... unless I get shorter shocks... That's the angle they're gonna be. I'm actually starting to like the laid back angle they have.

Loooks great I just posted asking if anyone has done it and here you are.  How long is the chain and what did you use to extend th
e brake linkage?? I'd extend the fender alityle straight out.  Give it even more of a dirt bike look.  But great job very unique.

Ha Ha.. I'd say you're being a little conservative there!

I'm with BigZ... It looks like a straight up hill climber!! All it needs now is a paddle tire, a squirt of juice & someone with enough cods to hold the fock on!!

We need some video of this thing on the road

Thanks. Unique was definately what I was after. As far as the chain goes I ordered 2 102 link chains and I used about 1 and 3/4ths. I'll count when I get a chance. I just cut the rod on the brake linkage and welded a foot piece in the middle. Pretty simple. As far as the fender goes. I tried a couple different fenders... settled on the front fender mounted on the rear. There is so much travel back there that I couldn't go too much over the tire without it hitting when compressed.

Yea. I think it looks the coolest when it's being ridden. I'll get a video when I get the clutch work done. It does awesome burnouts. That'll be the first thing on my list when the clutch is done.

Thanks. It's below the seat between the front part of the swingarm. you can see the box it sits in... in the picture if you look close.

yeah i don't get it.  It looks cool and all with the long swing arm, but not something I would do.  Is that imitating a certain style of bike I don't know about?  I am fairly new to the 2 wheeled enterprise.  Or just something you thought of?  It does make me look twice, if that's what you are after.

they make kits for sport bikes like honda CBR's and Suzuki gsxr's(and busa).. drag bikes have very long rear swingarms and rake in the front too.. makes them very stable in a straight line(less corning ability though).. so if it was emulating anything you'd probably say a drag bike.. the savage is so short i think it needs alittle length.. the rear swingarm looks easier to modify than stretching the frame.. of course stretching the frame you get the advantage of being able to fit a bigger tank(small tank another shortcoming of the savage) with a longer backbone.

I find it somewhat amusing that someone would say they don't  "get it" but say it's cool all in the same breath. I brings me to want to ask a few questions.

Just curious. Have you done or ever done anything to your bike that you thought was all yours??? Maybe something that you thought was sort of unique? Maybe something you thought was cool? Maybe something that you put a lot of heart and soul into? Something that you thought was bad a$$? Ever built anything on your house or maybe on your bicycle as a kid that you thought was cool? Anything at all that was all yours? Have you ever done anything other than the norm at all that made you stand out from anyone else? Ever just thought "outside the box"? If you have then you "get it". If you haven't... then I guess it makes sense. You just don't "get it" and you probably never will. It's not a two wheeled enterprise thing. It's life. Open your mind and dream a little. Really... It's fun and can sometimes be rewarding. That's what it's all about for me. :)

If you ever need any help with anything mechanical on your bike let me know. Im pretty good with motorcycles. Allways have been. It's cool that you don't "get it". I love bikes and anything I can do to help someone else out... I'll do it.  Plus I live in Omaha as well. Might save you a few bucks.
