Title: lengthened Swingarm..
Post by james may on 06/07/10 at 13:32:42

anyone have any experience lengthening thier rear swing arm like on drag bikes.  I've seen some sport bikes with longer rear swing arms.. I'm guessing I would have to convert to a chain get a longer chain and section the rear swing arm a few inchs.. I know there are issues with the rake and trail of the modifying the front end.. how about the back?  I wouldn't want to adversely effect handling in a major way.  I'm guessing it would increase the turning radius alittle and maybe make it alittle more stable in a straight line.  But wondering if anyone on here has any info and ideas.. I think the bike would look better with an extended stance..

Would look... what???

Ha Ha..  I've pondered on this myself. You already mentioned the chain conversion...
I guess it depends on where you lengthen the swingarm. You might have to deal with relocating the shocks. Brake rod will need extended. What else? I dunno, having a hard time thinking right now...  8-)

I do think it would look better though & possibly more stable too.
