Title: seafoam Post by oldbill on 06/05/10 at 18:44:19 Just purchased an 00 Savage, very few miles. Was wondering about some type of additive to run through the system to maybe clean things up. Anybody used Seafoam? What results did you have? |

The catbs could be gummy. But only if u notice a problem. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. You might break something. Ya could also give it a tune up like change the oil and the spark plug if it hasn't been riden mich. |
Title: Re: seafoam Post by aphico on 06/05/10 at 18:54:23 best stuff on the market, i put it in everything with a motor. I put some it a baby food jar, and soak jets, plugs, needles, screws etc. I know people run it through the tank, but i like to take the line off and inject straight w/ a syringe. fill up the bowl and the gas pushes it through straight. mystery oil works good too. |

Title: Re: seafoam Post by bobbed750 on 06/06/10 at 12:27:14 great stuff! wen i got my gr650 it had sat for 2 years, i filled the carbs with seafoam via the fuel line, let it sit overnight, and after a little cranking, ALOT of smoke and riding it about 30 miles with hesitation, she now runs nearly flawlessly... without even having to remove the carb for cleaning. i would recommend this stuff to anyone |
Title: Re: seafoam Post by oldbill on 06/07/10 at 10:06:58 How do I fill the carbs with Seafoam by the fuel line? |
Title: Re: seafoam Post by bill67 on 06/07/10 at 10:39:49 You have to drain your fuel bowl theres a screw you take out to drain it,then put screw back in,then take rubber fuel line off of tank and pour the sea foam in there put line back on. then put on prime and start it up i would let it run for about a minute and shut off,let it sit for a couple hours then you can run it. |

Title: Re: seafoam Post by weracerc on 06/07/10 at 11:28:22 now that is funny right there! ;D.....ok I got a 1996 a month ago - for misc reasons (title work screwed up) i did not get to ride until last week - it had been setting for a year or more - the tank had old gas in it - put 1 gal good gas in it and drained the tank - added 1/4 can of sea foam and filled the tank with premium gas......no hesitation no backfiring runs like new......I have tried all kinds of fuel additives in my cars over the years but this is one product that I can say with confidence that I actually see, hear and feel the results within just 1 tank of gas.....Sea Foam = dang good stuff A+ highly recommend it! |

I took the line off and used a syringe for filling ink cartrigdes. I put a syringe full in every open/port i could see let it set for a while then ran it and put some in the tank. It filled the whole nieghborhood with smoke, Looked really bad. neighbors were yelling shut that thing off. but it cleared up after awhile I've been using mystery oil for the oil, and seafoam for the gas, but they say you can either on either. so.... |

right before you change the oil right? detergent in your oil can deffinately clean out gum and sludge, but don't run your engine like that for long it also brakes down the lubricity of the oil and could cause unnessisary friction and possible damage. |

A very interesting point. I'm considering getting a bottle myself after all the great stuff I'm reading...just did an oil change, nothing wrong with my savage, but it's got close to 15k now (4.5k are mine) and figure she could use a little laxative. get any build-up out ;) |
Title: Re: seafoam Post by Educatedredneck on 06/07/10 at 22:40:35 I run it in everything that I own that has a motor. Great stuff, nuff said. |
Title: Re: seafoam Post by rl153 on 06/08/10 at 10:12:59 I've been putting 2 oz of seafoam with every fillup .Is that too much? It says 1 oz per gallon of gas on the can .Also Is marvel mystery oil good to put in the gas once in a while, also how much? |
Title: Re: seafoam Post by bill67 on 06/08/10 at 11:11:48 I would say once every 2 month would be good for the sea foam. |
