Bless our Veteran's. Those living and those that have pasted.

I hug a veteran each a.m. and evening as my hubby is a Vietnam Veteran.

My heart over flows with pride for all of our Veteran's.

Thank you all so very very much... :-* :-*   Kim

I myself do not know anyone personally who has died in the service of our nation. Luck and the grace of God carried my forefathers through the Texas War for Independence, the War Between the States, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and myself and my brother-in-law through Desert Storm and Bosnia (respectively) almost unscathed.

But to my shipmates and fellow servicemen who did not make it- I thank you. I salute you. I honor you. What you gave for our nation will not be forgotten.

at the retreat yesterday we retired the main flag for the cementary..
we diposed(burned) a flg that has been flying on top of Mt. Garfield for the last five years, that was one tattered ol glory..
this morning we run up a new flag at the skeet range and then back to the cementary for memorial day ceremony..

a web site like this wouldnt exist without our vets..thank you brothers

I don't see that the soldiers are fighting for our country at all.

& I agree w/ Bill. I defy anyone to point to a threat weve been being "saved" from by our military. I dont believe Korea was important to the counttry, but, I could be wrong, however, I KNOW Nam was based on a lie & only made tghe rich richer while our boys died, & THEN,, Nixon couldnt/wouldnt pay the ransom & many were left there, as POWs. But, we abandoned POWS in WWII, soo,, anyway, none of these wars are to better the way of life for us, or keep us safe.

Memorial Day is to remember our soldiers who sacrificed their lives to do their duty.  The soldiers don't get to decide whether the war is right or wrong, they just do their duty.  That's honorable and they should be honored for it!

God Bless America!

Then the people that decided a war is right should have them selfs and their family fight it,But you want see that.We aren't as safe as we were 10 years ago.

You don't have to agree with war or why we are fighting. But support the troops no matter what! I will be drinking a few today to toast all my brothers and sisters that didn't make it home.

Down the road came a soldier
17, or maybe older
beneath his grimey uniform
his wounded body, tired and worn.
Furrowed brow, sunken eyes
beleaguered soul who pondered lies
that brought him here to shed his blood
amidst this agoney and blood.
His innocence lay scattered here
across these fields where freedom dear,
he'd purchased now with mortal sin
upon a politicians' whim.

DO YOU REALLY THINK TODAY IS THE DAY TO B!TCH ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT YOU AGREE WITH WAR??? TODAY IS A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T MAKE IT HOME WHILE FIGHTING FOR US, OUR ALLIES, OR TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

My sadness for those killed, wounded & captured & abandoned is there. To not point out the "Raaah Raaah Raaah, we're number one" stuff & the reason for the wars is to leave the door open for people who havent a clue to continue living in a deluded state. NEVER believe I dont "support the troops". I do. I support them all coming home & living long & prosperous lives, RIGHT NOW, just like Obama said he was gonna do

Doesn't no one have the feelings for the Iraq men, women, children, and unborn babies we killed,Don't their lives mean anything to you,And they never did anything to us.I v'e never bought a poppy and never will. Some day when those missiles come flying into the USA you young people will think how stupid war is.

I agree with Earlytimz.  But remember, this day isn't to thank verterans, we have veteran's day for that.  This is to reflect on those who died doing their duty; regardless of what war/conflict/police action they were involved in.  Remember, they didn't "give their lives" they were killed.
And Bill, let the Iraqis have their own day.......this day is for OUR dead!

I feel more sorry for the Iraq people they did nothing to us.

I've bought poppies from Vets before and hope to do it again. I know a lot of Vets who served in WW2, Korea, Nam and all the other conflicts. It doesn't matter if I agree with the war, I remember those who served and lost their lives and thank them.

I wasn't talking to YOU
I was talking to anyone who thinks their feelings are more important than showing respect for our dead. F*cking crybabies...

Thank YOU for your service... Some of us appreciate it!

BTW, if I wanna shout all day long, I will. Don't like it? Don't read it, you can't hear it. -Thanks

First Memorial Day in a long time that I didn't make it to the cemetery or on a Scouting activity with flag retiring.

Growing up most of my friends were veterans of WW2, Korea, Vietnam. Was quite honored to meet a couple WW1 veterans at a Boy Scout Camporee held at the Old Soldier's Home in Orting Washington when I was in school.

While in US Navy "A" school in 95, I was quite honored to attend Memorial Day at the Tomb of the Confederate Unknown, at Beauvoir, Jefferson Davis's coastal manor turned soldiers home in Biloxi MS.

I've placed Wermacht flags on the resting places of German WW2 vets. Union Jacks on Revolutionary War British graves in new York. Got in trouble for flipping off Custer's stone at the Little Bighorn Battlefield (even though he was replanted elsewhere).

Like the war or hate the war, your side or the other guys' side, this holiday was started by a Union general to honor ALL war dead. If you want to feel sorry for the civilian dead, that's covered.

I think the war in the sandbox is a waste of time. Bring them home, drop one Sarin bomb on the area in memory of every U.S. KIA, nuke the remainder and go on to more important things. You need not agree, but the blood and sweat of every American veteran gives me the right to think that way. The same as it gives to steal and squander marxist liberal crybabies.
