Title: DAE have a stiff under tank connector?
Post by Moofed on 05/24/10 at 11:04:56

Ever since I got my 2002 Savage the electrical connector under the tank has been difficult to separate.  I have to use a screwdriver or pliers to get it apart, and even that is tricky when balancing the tank at the same time.  Finally, this past time of taking the tank off, the plastic of the male connector has started to tear from excessive pliers use and I foresee the need to replace it soon.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has this problem.  It's nice to have companions in the Fail Boat with me.  :P

Glass cleaner maybe?(foam not windex!!!) that or silicon lubrican spray. neither seems to interfere with electrical components but keep plastics and rubbers sliding properly.

Just a thought. I know it won't help you with your connector coming apart but it might help in the future when it gets stuck or whatever.

If it were me, I'd put a bit of silicone grease on the pins and sockets of the connectors.  Then, I'd spritz a bit on silicone spray on the inside surface of the larger connector and on the outside surface of the smaller connector.  I'd then connect-disconnect two or three times.

IHTH!

odd...mine pops right off and back on with moderate pulling. Its not loose enough that Im worried of it coming apart randomly or by tank wiggling but I certainly dont have a hard time of it.
