whats up people today i checked and adjusted my valves and when i cranked up suzi it started fine and ran smoth for about 3 minutes, then i heard a loud clicking (valve sound that i never heard before) now i am lost. anyone have any thoughts

Ever adjust them before?

if no, then you could've set it to the wrong TDC

TDC has to be on the compression stroke

Also, were you rotating the engine the right way?
Clymers has you rotating the engine in reverse
the engine should be rotated the same way the wheels go forward.

no i haven't before and the locknuts were tight.and the piston was all the way up when both rocker arms were up position but i could only get the exhaust rocker arm to have free play could it also be that i gapped it to tight on the feeler guage at .005

Most common error (yeah me too) is not to get the right TDC.

Take both valve covers off, rotate engine ccw till the intake valve open then close, then continue rotating till the timing marks align.

personally, I don't even bother to take the plug out.

I'm going to guess you might not have tightened a nut down enough.

If I recall correctly, there is a washer that can bounce around producing that tick, especially if the valves are gapped too big. Easiest thing might be to double check you tightened the valves right, then see if you got the right TDC.

If the plug stays in, then TDC compression will be easy to find, cuz TDC exhaust wont be compressing anything, so it will spin up to TDC exhaust w/o much torque. TDC Compression, w/ the plug in, will take torque & ya have to make sure to sneak up on it & allow the compression to bleed down, so it doesnt roll on across it.
